Patient Care Technician - Vascular Unit

Job Summary
Conduct patient care, support activities of daily living, monitor vital signs, and manage mobility for patients with vascular disorders, kidney, and pancreas transplants. Perform phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal while complying with patient safety practices under RN direction. Observe physical, mental, and emotional conditions, document changes accurately, and report updates to medical staff. Work a third shift (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM) with rotating weekends and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Sentara Care Partner Certification Program
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
- National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT)
- Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School
- Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic
- Current student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) having completed at least one semester of a Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Respiratory Therapist (RT) or Physical Therapist (PT) program
- Current work experience within the last three years as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Nursing Assistant
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire
- Third (Nights) shift availability
- 12-hour shift availability
- Rotating weekends and holidays availability
