Job Summary
Monitor vital signs, take blood glucose measurements, and record intake and output under RN supervision. Assist patients with personal care, bathing, grooming, and eating while reporting abnormal physical, mental, and emotional changes to nursing staff. Manage unit workflow with the charge RN, answer call lights and intercoms using appropriate etiquette, and maintain clean patient rooms. Perform pre-census and validate daily admission and discharge lists as needed. Requires High School Diploma, CNA or CMA certification, and BLS certification; phlebotomy experience preferred. Full-time days shift at Northwestern Medicine.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or nursing school students with one semester of clinical completed
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Must adhere to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program
- Must comply with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards
- Must demonstrate flexibility, organization, and multi-tasking
- Must be able to function under stressful situations
- Must utilize critical thinking skills to successfully demonstrate the ability to prioritize and complete unit work quickly as the needs of the unit, patients and staff change
Desired Qualifications
- Phlebotomy experience
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Assistant program
- Graduate of Phlebotomy course
