Job Summary
Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides multi-skilled nursing support under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to assist in care of post-anesthesia and observation patients, including phase 2 recovery and preoperative patients within a hospital setting. The role emphasizes a decentralized, patient-centered approach to care and requires meeting education/credentialing prerequisites (e.g., high school diploma or equivalent, BLS certification) and physical capabilities to perform duties such as lifting and sustained activity across 12-hour day shifts, including weekends and holidays. Related duties include assisting with postoperative care, monitoring, and collaborating with nursing staff to achieve desired patient outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required for PCT I)
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 2 weeks of hire
- Ability to perform job functions including lifting up to 50 lbs and various physical requirements as described
- Certification as CNA or CMA or enrollment in nursing/healthcare program may be part of PCT II requirements
