Job Summary
Assist the professional nurse in patient care tasks, including phlebotomy, fingersticks, and electrocardiograms, while maintaining unit cleanliness and safety. Answer call lights promptly, provide personal care assistance, and report observations to the registered nurse. Support admission, transfer, and discharge procedures, and run errands such as specimen delivery and equipment transport. Maintain supply accountability, ensure necessary equipment is present, and assist patients in preparing for scheduled appointments using a clear, caring communication style. Complete annual mandatory education and participate in unit meetings and conferences.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Graduate of a PCT program with at least 6 months hospital experience
- CNA graduate plus course completion in EKG & Phlebotomy and PCT certification eligible plus at least 6 months hospital experience
- PCT Certification through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) with at least 6 months hospital experience
- BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification (Issued by the American Heart Association-AHA)
- Working knowledge of English evident in verbal, reading and writing abilities
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
