Job Summary
Assist the professional nurse in surgical telemetry by completing assigned patient care tasks, including phlebotomy, fingersticks, and electrocardiograms. Answer call lights promptly, provide personal care assistance, and maintain unit cleanliness and supply safety. Collect data for quality improvement programs, observe patient behavior, and report findings to the registered nurse. Support admission, transfer, and discharge procedures while ensuring infection prevention standards are met. Complete mandatory education requirements and participate in unit meetings as directed.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Graduate of a PCT program with at least 6 months hospital experience
- CNA graduate plus course completion in EKG & Phlebotomy and PCT certification eligible plus at least 6 months hospital experience
- PCT Certification through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) with at least 6 months hospital experience
- BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification (Issued by the American Heart Association-AHA)
- Heartsaver CPR/AED certification (Issued by the American Heart Association-AHA)
- Working knowledge of English
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Basic Life Support Cert
