Job Summary
PT Day Patient Care Technician role at IU Health in Indianapolis. Provide bedside care and assist the RN with clinical tasks, including taking vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, mobility assistance, and ensuring patient safety. Support the care team by maintaining clean and orderly patient surroundings, reporting changes in patient condition promptly, and using appropriate safety measures such as gait belts and bed alarms. Requires current BLS (AHA) or completion of the IU Health PCA program, strong communication skills, ability to manage a high workload, and knowledge of infection control. This non-licensed role emphasizes compassionate, team-based patient care in a hospital setting with opportunities for development and tuition reimbursement.
Required Qualifications
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or completion of IU Health PCA education program
- Ability to perform activities of daily living and provide patient care under supervision of RN
- Knowledge of infection control principles and patient safety
- Ability to read and perform basic math
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Capability to manage high workload and maintain concentration in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to perform physically demanding, repetitious movements and assist with mobility
- Familiarity with patient care equipment and basic software used in patient care activities
