Job Summary
Monitor vital signs, temperature, and patient condition while assisting with personal hygiene, grooming, appointments, and activities. Provide emotional support, de-escalate crises, and offer one-to-one supervision as ordered by medical staff. Collaborate with the treatment team, maintain documentation including shift summaries and incident reports, and enter treatment data accurately. Adhere to infection control policies, performance standards, and all corporate reporting requirements. Complete competency requirements and attend mandatory in-services. Work 12-hour shifts (7am-7:30pm or 7pm-7:30am) at the Westchester Medical Center Behavioral Health Center, a leading psychiatric provider in the Hudson Valley.
Required Qualifications
- High School Degree or equivalent
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
- Ability to read and understand english
Desired Qualifications
- Associate Degree from an accredited college or university in a Health and/or Human Services field
- NYS Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, and/or Patient Care Technician certificate
- Minimum two (2) years of direct patient care experience
- Previous patient care experience in a behavioral health or hospital setting
- Ability to direct the activities of patients
- Ability to work under potentially stressful conditions
- Ability to deal with individuals / critical situations in an effective manner
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse population
- Ability to work independently
- Sufficient physical ability and perceptive acuity to perform patient care functions
- Successful completion of departmental required training and in-service training
