Patient Care Technician (PCT) - Weekend Only Work - Med Surg - Berkeley Hospital

Job Summary

Assist staff by performing clerical and patient care duties under the direction of an RN. Maintain and update patient records in a timely, orderly manner while acknowledging and greeting customers upon arrival with an enthusiastic approach. Report changes in patient condition to the professional nurse and administer care following organizational policies. Use office equipment including multi-line telephones, computer terminals, and printers to support daily operations. Work evenings and nights on the Combined Medical Surgical Unit at Berkeley Hospital. Complete the RSF PCT Training Program upon hire.

Required Qualifications

  • One of the following must be met: Graduate of an accredited high school or GED equivalency examination and have completed Fundamentals of Nursing course or a Nursing Assistant Program
  • Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Graduate of an accredited high school or GED equivalency examination and have experience as a patient care technician in an acute care setting or nursing home
  • Experience with direct patient care (vitals and ADL job duties) in an assisted living facility
  • Graduate of an accredited high school or GED equivalency examination and a current Roper St, Francis teammate
  • Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
  • Currently enrolled in or graduate of an Associates or Bachelor's degree program (in any field)
  • Must successfully complete the RSF PCT Training Program upon hire
  • Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification Card
  • Knowledge of clerical procedures and medical terminology
  • Skill in English grammar and spelling
  • Neat, legible handwriting
  • Ability to file and maintain patient records (both paper and electronic), files and reports
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to use office equipment such as multi-line telephones, computer terminals and printers
  • Knowledge of patient care tasks and techniques to provide nursing care
  • Ability to report changes in the patient's condition to the professional nurse
  • Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to administer patient care
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe working environment
  • Skill in maintaining patient care record
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Must be available for weekend shifts
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs

Desired Qualifications

  • Current certification as a Nursing Assistant preferred
