Job Summary
Functions as part of the dialysis health care team under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, responsible for setup and operation of hemodialysis machines, maintaining a safe/clean work environment, and supporting CQI activities. Provides patient-specific education on adequacy measures (OLC, AMP, UKM) and assists with treatment initiation/continuation, vital signs, weight, and vascular-access evaluation, cannulation, and administration of heparin as permitted. Documents treatment data, monitors patient response to dialysis, and reports changes to the RN or supervisor. Participates in infection control, transitional care activities, and training of staff; requires 12-week training on day shift and CMS/state certification/licensure per state requirements. Education, CPR certification, and successful completion of the dialysis training program are prerequisites. The role includes daytime start times and evening shift adaptations, with travel between facilities as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D. required
- CMS-approved state and/or national certification requirements
- All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any) required
- CPR certification
