Job Summary
Welcome assigned patients, perform vascular access cannulation, and administer heparin as delegated. Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders, monitor patient response, and obtain vital signs pre- and post-treatment. Evaluate vascular access for patency, document treatment parameters on the Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet, and report any changes in patient condition to the registered nurse. Assist in patient education regarding adequacy measures, disease processes, and home dialysis options. Maintain a safe environment by cleaning equipment, ensuring infection control protocols, and completing required training and CPR certification.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline
- All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any) required
- Demonstrated commitment to organization culture, values, and customer service standards
- Successful completion of CPR certification
- Must be able to lift and to lower solutions on a frequent basis of up to 30 lbs., and on an occasional lift basis up to 40 lbs., as high as 5 feet
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to exert up to 15 pounds of force
- Must be able to push and/or pull equipment
- Must be able to take the Ishihara's Color Blindness test
- Must be able to travel between assigned facilities and various locations within the community
- Must be able to travel to regional, Business Unit and Corporate meetings
Desired Qualifications
- No dialysis experience required, healthcare experience preferred
- Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility preferred
- Must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline
