Job Summary
Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides patient-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. Responsibilities include recording vital statistics, administering basic health care and treatments, assisting with dressing/bathing/grooming/toileting, meal preparation, emotional/spiritual support, and laundry; cleaning patient areas and treatment rooms; collecting non-invasive specimens; preparing treatment areas and equipment; disposing of biomedical waste; performing clerical scheduling and documentation; strong communication, customer service, multi-tasking, and organizational skills; may provide one-on-one care as needed. Shift schedule includes varied times with five eight-hour shifts per pay period, every 10th weekend/weekend overnight/holiday commitments; 7am-3:30pm, 8am-4:30pm, 9am-5:30pm or 10:30am-7pm, with overnight 6:30pm-7am. Located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Sanford Health system; part-time position with potential sign-on bonus; EEO/AA employer.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED preferred but not required
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred
- North Dakota Nurse Aide Registry compliance if ND and not CNA (within four months)
- Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment/supplies preferred
