Job Summary
Provide patient care, support activities of daily living, and monitor vital signs, mobility, and ambulation for patients in a 24-bed Medicine unit. Perform phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal while documenting physical, mental, and emotional conditions. Report any changes to the nurse or medical staff in a timely and accurate manner. Work three 12-hour night shifts (7:00pm to 7:00am) with rotating weekends.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Sentara Care Partner Certification Program
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
- National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT)
- Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School
- Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic
- Current student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) having completed at least one semester of a Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Respiratory Therapist (RT) or Physical Therapist (PT) program
- Current work experience within the last three years as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Nursing Assistant
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire
- One year of health care experience
