Job Summary
Patient Care Technician on the Medicine Unit 2 provides patient care under RN supervision, assists with activities of daily living, monitors vital signs, supports mobility and ambulation, performs phlebotomy and point-of-care testing, conducts EKG testing, handles peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and Foley catheter insertion/removal. Responsible for accurate and timely documentation of patient status and changes observed. Works 12-hour nights (7:00pm–7:00am), three shifts per week (36 hours) with rotating weekends, on a 24-bed unit dedicated to diverse patient populations. Candidates should have the required education and certification pathways listed and be prepared to contribute to high-quality patient care in a Magnet-designated hospital environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
- Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, or CNA, or NCMA, or NCPCT, or US Navy Hospital Corps School, or EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic, or RN/LPN/RT/PT clinical program completion or current student in clinical program with RN/LPN/RT/PT progress
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire
- One year health care experience (Preferred)
