Job Summary
Provide hygiene, comfort, and mobility assistance to patients under registered nurse supervision. Perform daily monitoring procedures including vital signs, weight checks, and blood glucose testing. Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, feeding, and oral care while documenting all interventions and patient responses. Conduct hourly rounding to assess pain, toileting needs, possessions, and positioning. Maintain patient safety by following standard precautions, managing equipment, and promptly responding to call lights.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Relevant healthcare program completion (e.g. certified nursing assistant, emergency medical technician-basic, etc.)
- Completion or active enrollment in core nursing classes
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience performing the essential responsibilities of the patient care technician role
- CPR certification
- Basic computer data entry skills, including the ability to enter, store and retrieve information
- Updated knowledge and competency in using equipment related to job duties (i.e., gait belt, mobility devices, protection/safety equipment, etc.)
- Effective communication skills with the ability to relay information to/from patients, their families, and members of the care team
