Job Summary
Assist nursing staff under the direction of an RN by performing patient care and clerical duties; greet patients on arrival and maintain orderly patient records. Requires graduation from an accredited high school or GED with completion of Fundamentals of Nursing or a Nursing Assistant Program, or current CNA certification (CMA/other credentials also mentioned as acceptable in the posting). Must successfully complete the RSF PCT Training Program on hire and possess or obtain a current AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers certification. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, clerical procedures, and ability to maintain paper and electronic patient records; excellent English communication and ability to report changes in a patient’s condition to the nurse; comfortable using office equipment and prioritizing patient care tasks.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited high school or GED equivalency examination and have completed Fundamentals of Nursing course or a Nursing Assistant Program
- Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification
- Must successfully complete the RSF PCT Training Program upon hire
- Knowledge of clerical procedures and medical terminology
- Skill in English grammar and spelling
- Ability to file and maintain patient records (both paper and electronic)
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to use office equipment such as multi-line telephones, computer terminals and printers
- Knowledge of patient care tasks and techniques to provide nursing care
- Ability to report changes in the patient's condition to the professional nurse
- Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to administer patient care
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe working environment
- Skill in maintaining patient care record
- Ability to communicate clearly
