Job Summary
Patient Care Technician (PCT) in a dialysis clinic setting responsible for assisting with safe dialysis therapy under RN supervision. Duties include setup and operation of hemodialysis machines, vascular access evaluation and cannulation, administration of heparin as delegated, monitoring vital signs, documenting treatment data, ensuring safe and clean environment, participating in CQI activities, providing patient education on adequacy measures and disease processes, preparing treatment records, and adhering to infection control policies. Requires high school diploma or GED and state or CMS certification/licensure as applicable; prior patient care experience preferred. Candidates should be prepared to perform pretreatment checks, monitor machine alarms, document accurately, and support transitional care practices as part of the dialysis team.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D. required
- CMS-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline
- All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any) required
