Job Summary
Patient Care Technician (PCT) role within the dialysis health care team. Responsible for setup and operation of hemodialysis machines, maintaining a safe/clean environment, and supporting CQI/QEP initiatives. Performs patient-related education on adequacy measures (OLC, AMP, UKM) and disease processes, evaluates vascular access, cannulates, administers heparin as allowed, and records pre/post-treatment vital signs, weight, and treatment parameters. Initiates dialysis per orders (QB, QD), monitors intradialytic status, and documents treatment data. Maintains documentation (Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet, progress notes) and reports changes to the RN or supervisor. Participates in infection control practices, staff education, and transitional dialysis care, including coordination of home dialysis information and modality options. Requires ability to travel between facilities, lift and move patients/equipment, and comply with CMS/state requirements. High school diploma or GED and appropriate certifications/licensure are required; prior patient care experience preferred. Fresenius Medical Care is an equal opportunity employer.
