Job Summary
Operate and monitor hemodialysis equipment as part of the dialysis health care team under direct supervision of a licensed nurse. Responsibilities include setup and operation of dialysis machines, patient education on adequacy measures (OLC, AMP, UKM), evaluating vascular access and cannulation, administering heparin as allowed, obtaining pre/post-treatment vitals and weights, initiating and terminating dialysis per orders, monitoring patient response, recording treatment data on the Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet, ensuring safety alarms and infection control, assisting with lab specimens, and participating in CQI/quality improvement activities. Education and transition care duties include staff training and enabling patient understanding of home dialysis options; compliance with CMS/state requirements and organization policies; documentation and cross-functional communication. The role requires high school level education, applicable state licensure and CPR certification, and successful completion of the dialysis training program.
