Job Summary
Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy as part of the dialysis health care team under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. Responsibilities include setup and operation of hemodialysis machines, patient-specific education regarding adequacy measures, vascular access evaluation and cannulation, administering heparin as delegated, obtaining pre/post-treatment vitals and weight, initiating treatment per orders, documenting treatment data, maintaining a safe/clean environment, and participating in CQI activities. Also responsible for infection control practices, preparing patient charts, collection and handling of lab specimens, and supporting transitional dialysis care and home-dialysis education as applicable. Requires High School diploma/GED and CMS/state certification/licensure as required by state; CPR certification and dialysis training program completion may be required.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required
- CMS-approved state and/or national certification within required state or CMS timeline
- All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any) required
