Job Summary
Patient Care Technician (PCT) role within the dialysis health care team under direct supervision of a licensed nurse. Responsible for setup and operation of hemodialysis machines, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and supporting CQI activities. Provides patient education on adequacy measures (OLC, AMP, UKM) and disease processes, evaluates vascular access patency, cannulation, and administration of heparin as delegated, collects vitals and weight, initiates dialysis per orders, monitors response to therapy, documents treatment data, and ensures safety alarms. Involves recording treatment sheets, attending to infection control, participating in transitional dialysis care, coordinating with staff across facilities, and assisting with training of direct patient care staff. Requires high school diploma or GED, state or CMS certification/licensure as applicable, CPR certification, and completion of dialysis training program. Travel between facilities may be required; heavy lifting and patient-assistance tasks are involved. Fresenius Medical Care is an equal opportunity employer.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D. required
- CMS-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline
- All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any) required
