Job Summary
Provides dialysis patient care as part of the dialysis health care team under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Responsible for the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines, patient education on adequacy measures and treatment processes, vascular access evaluation and cannulation, monitoring vital signs, and completing documentation. Performs pre/post-treatment assessments, manages treatment parameters (QB/QD), ensures safety alarms and infection control, participates in CQI activities, trains/directs staff as needed, and may travel between facilities. Requires a High School diploma or GED and CMS/state licensure/certification as applicable; CPR certification preferred. The role encompasses direct patient care in a clinical setting with exposure to infectious materials and demand for physical effort, including lifting and assisting patients, with a two-person assist program available when handling heavy items.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D. required
- CMS-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline
- All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any) required
