Job Summary
Functions as part of the dialysis health care team under the supervision of a licensed nurse, responsible for setup and operation of hemodialysis machines, maintaining a safe environment, and delivering patient-specific education on adequacy measures and disease-process monitoring (OLC, AMP, UKM). Performs pretreatment and post-treatment assessments, cannulates vascular access, administers heparin as allowed, records vital signs and treatment parameters, ensures proper documentation, maintains machine safety and infection control practices, supports CQI activities, and aids in transitioning patients to alternative modalities and home dialysis options as applicable. Requires high school diploma/GED and state/national certifications; CPR certification; and potential state licensure and training as per CMS/state requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D. required
- CMS-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline
- All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any) required
- Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or related facility preferred
- CPR certification required upon successful completion of dialysis training program
