Job Summary
Functions as part of the dialysis health care team in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. Responsible for the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines; assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment; provide patient-specific education on adequacy measures (OLC, AMP, UKM) and disease process; evaluate vascular access, cannulation, administer heparin as allowed; obtain pre/post treatment vital signs, weight, and documentation; initiate dialysis per orders including QB and QD; monitor patient response and intervene as prescribed; document treatment data; ensure safety alarms and infection control practices; participate in CQI activities and transitional care duties; assist in training direct patient care staff; perform pretreatment testing, SDS initiation, and prepare lab specimens; travel between facilities as needed; comply with CMS and organization policies; educational requirements include CMS-approved certifications and CPR.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D. required
- Must meet CMS-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline
- All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any) required
