Job Summary
Welcome assigned patients, evaluate vascular access, perform cannulation, and administer heparin as delegated. Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders, monitor patient response, and obtain pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weights. Document all treatment parameters, interventions, and lab specimen collection on Hemodialysis Treatment Sheets. Maintain a safe environment by cleaning equipment, ensuring alarm testing, and following infection control policies. Assist in transitional care for newly admitted patients by coordinating their first four weeks of dialysis and demonstrating home dialysis setups.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- CMS-approved state and/or national certification
- All appropriate state licensure, education, and training
- CPR certification
- Successful completion of the organization dialysis training program
- Ability to pass the Ishihara's Color Blindness test
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs frequently and up to 40 lbs occasionally
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to bend over
- Ability to push and/or pull equipment exerting up to 15 pounds of force
- Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility preferred
