Job Summary
Welcome assigned patients, perform vascular access cannulation, and initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders. Monitor patients' response to therapy, obtain vital signs, and evaluate vascular access for patency. Calculate and enter dialysis machine programming for ultrafiltration goals, document treatment parameters, and report significant changes to the registered nurse. Assist in patient education regarding adequacy measures and disease processes, while ensuring infection control practices and maintaining a clean environment. Follow all organization policies, complete continuous quality improvement activities, and support staff training under nurse supervision.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline
- All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any) required
- Demonstrated commitment to organization culture, values, and customer service standards
- Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility preferred
- Successful completion of the organization dialysis training program
- Successful completion of CPR certification
- Must be able to lift and to lower solutions on a frequent basis of up to 30 lbs., and on an occasional lift basis up to 40 lbs., as high as 5 feet
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to exert up to 15 pounds of force
- Must be able to push and/or pull equipment
- Must be able to perform frequent, prolonged periods of standing
- Must be able to travel between assigned facilities and various locations within the community
- Must be able to travel to regional, Business Unit and Corporate meetings
- Must pass the Ishihara's Color Blindness test

- Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility preferred
