Job Summary

Welcome assigned patients, perform vascular access cannulation, and administer heparin as delegated. Initiate dialysis treatments by calculating programming for ultrafiltration goals and monitoring vital signs, weight, and vascular access pressures pre- and post-treatment. Evaluate intradialytic problems, intervene as prescribed, and document all treatment parameters on Hemodialysis Treatment Sheets. Assist in patient education regarding adequacy measures, disease processes, and home dialysis options, while maintaining infection control and cleaning equipment between treatments. Support the Quality Enhancement Program by participating in continuous quality improvement activities and ensuring accurate record-keeping for all patient interactions.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline
  • All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any) required
  • Must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline
  • Must pass the Ishihara's Color Blindness test
  • Must be able to lift and to lower solutions on a frequent basis of up to 30 lbs., and on an occasional lift basis up to 40 lbs., as high as 5 feet
  • Must be able to bend over
  • Must be able to exert up to 15 pounds of force
  • Must be able to push and/or pull equipment
  • Must be able to take the Ishihara's Color Blindness test as a condition of employment
  • Must successfully complete the organization dialysis training program
  • Must successfully complete CPR certification
  • Must be able to lift and to lower solutions on a frequent basis of up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to lift and to lower solutions on an occasional basis up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to lift solutions up to 5 feet
  • Must be able to bend over
  • Must be able to exert up to 15 pounds of force

Desired Qualifications
