Job Summary
Welcome assigned patients, evaluate vascular access for patency, and perform cannulation and heparin administration as delegated. Initiate dialysis treatment by monitoring blood and dialysate flow, obtaining vital signs, and evaluating intradialytic problems. Document pre- and post-treatment evaluations, weights, and treatment parameters on the Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet. Assist in training direct patient care staff, maintaining a clean environment, and ensuring compliance with infection control policies. Follow newly admitted patients through their first four weeks in the Transitional Care Unit, coordinating care and demonstrating home dialysis setups.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline
- All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any) required
- Demonstrated commitment to organization culture, values, and customer service standards
- Successful completion of the organization dialysis training program
- Successful completion of CPR certification
- Must be able to lift and to lower solutions on a frequent basis of up to 30 lbs., and on an occasional lift basis up to 40 lbs., as high as 5 feet
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to exert up to 15 pounds of force
- Must be able to push and/or pull equipment
- Must be able to perform frequent, prolonged periods of standing
- Must be able to travel between assigned facilities and various locations within the community
- Must be able to travel to regional, Business Unit and Corporate meetings
- Must pass the Ishihara's Color Blindness test
Desired Qualifications
- Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility
