Job Summary
Welcome assigned patients, evaluate vascular access for patency, and perform cannulation and heparin administration. Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders, monitor patient response, and obtain vital signs before reinfusion or discharge. Calculate and enter dialysis machine programming for ultrafiltration goals, document treatment parameters, and report significant changes to the registered nurse. Assist in patient education regarding adequacy measures and disease processes, while maintaining a clean environment and ensuring infection control compliance. Support the organization's Quality Enhancement Program and participate in continuous quality improvement activities.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline
- All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any) required
- Demonstrated commitment to organization culture, values, and customer service standards
- Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility preferred
- Successful completion of the organization dialysis training program
- Successful completion of CPR certification
- Must be able to lift and to lower solutions on a frequent basis of up to 30 lbs., and on an occasional lift basis up to 40 lbs., as high as 5 feet
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to exert up to 15 pounds of force
- Must be able to push and/or pull equipment
- Must be able to perform frequent, prolonged periods of standing
- Must be able to travel between assigned facilities and various locations within the community
- Must be able to travel to regional, Business Unit and Corporate meetings
- Must pass the Ishihara's Color Blindness test

- Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility preferred
