Job Summary
Welcome assigned patients, perform vascular access cannulation, and administer heparin as delegated. Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders, monitor patient response, and evaluate vascular access for patency. Obtain pre- and post-treatment vital signs, weights, and blood pressure; document all findings on the Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet. Calculate dialysis machine programming for ultrafiltration goals and ensure safety alarms are enabled. Perform machine safety checks, clean and disinfect equipment between treatments, and collect laboratory specimens. Assist in training direct patient care staff and follow infection control policies. Follow newly admitted patients through their first four weeks of transitional dialysis care. Work flexible 12+ hour shifts Monday through Saturday with two Saturdays monthly required.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline
- All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any) required
- Must have a Manhattan address to be considered
- Must be able to work flexible 12+ hour shifts starting at 4:30 AM - 5:00 PM EST Monday -Saturday rotation
- (2) Saturdays a month required
- Must be able to lift and to lower solutions on a frequent basis of up to 30 lbs., and on an occasional lift basis up to 40 lbs., as high as 5 feet
- Must pass the Ishihara's Color Blindness test as a condition of employment
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to push and/or pull equipment, exerting up to 15 pounds of force
- Must be able to lift and move patients and assisting with ambulation
- Must be able to take the Ishihara's Color Blindness test as a condition of employment
- Must complete the organization dialysis training program
- Must successfully complete CPR certification
- Must be able to work flexible 12+ hour shifts starting at 4:30 AM - 5:00 PM EST Monday -Saturday rotation
