Job Summary
Welcome assigned patients, evaluate vascular access, and perform cannulation and heparin administration as delegated. Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders, monitor patient response, and obtain pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weights. Calculate and enter individual dialysis machine programming for ultrafiltration goals and treatment time. Document all treatment parameters, vital signs, and interventions on the Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet, reporting any significant changes or unusual findings to the registered nurse. Assist in patient education regarding adequacy measures, disease processes, and home dialysis options, while maintaining a safe, clean environment and ensuring infection control compliance. Follow all organization policies, complete dialysis training and CPR certification, and travel between assigned facilities.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline
- All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any) required
- Demonstrated commitment to organization culture, values, and customer service standards
- Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility preferred
- Successful completion of the organization dialysis training program
- Successful completion of CPR certification
- Must be able to lift and to lower solutions on a frequent basis of up to 30 lbs., and on an occasional lift basis up to 40 lbs., as high as 5 feet
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to exert up to 15 pounds of force
- Must be able to push and/or pull equipment
- Must be able to perform frequent, prolonged periods of standing
- Must be able to travel between assigned facilities and various locations within the community
- Must be able to travel to regional, Business Unit and Corporate meetings
- Must pass the Ishihara's Color Blindness test

- Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility preferred
