Job Summary
Welcome assigned patients, evaluate vascular access for patency, and perform cannulation and heparin administration as delegated. Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders, monitor patient response, and obtain pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weights. Document all treatment parameters, vital signs, and interventions on the Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet, reporting any significant changes to the registered nurse. Assist in patient education regarding adequacy measures, disease processes, and home dialysis options, while maintaining a clean environment and ensuring infection control compliance.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline
- All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any) required
- Demonstrated commitment to organization culture, values, and customer service standards
- Successful completion of the organization dialysis training program
- Successful completion of CPR certification
- Must be able to lift and to lower solutions on a frequent basis of up to 30 lbs., and on an occasional lift basis up to 40 lbs., as high as 5 feet
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to exert up to 15 pounds of force
- Must be able to push and/or pull equipment
- Must be able to perform frequent, prolonged periods of standing
- Must pass the Ishihara's Color Blindness test

- Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility
