Job Summary
Provide clear, timely communication to the RN regarding patient observations, skin conditions, vital signs, and mental status changes. Observe high-risk patients, assist with daily living activities including hygiene and ambulation, and safely move, lift, and transport patients. Perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, EKGs, point-of-care tests, phlebotomy, and collecting specimens. Assist with treatments and procedures, manage tube feedings and ostomy care, and maintain a safe environment through fall prevention and restraint interventions. Replenish supplies, clean equipment, and precept new technicians while complying with all hospital policies and safety regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school education or GED
- Basic Life Support certification within 30-days as a condition of employment
- Current Basic Life Support
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner
- Basic computer skills
- Basic Medical Terminology knowledge
- Ability to remain calm when under stress or in emergency situations
- Demonstrated competency attainment in the Patient Care Technician I level
- Work a minimum of 800 hours and at least 6 months as a PCA I
- Prior inpatient/outpatient care experience or clinical care training
