Job Summary
Perform setup and operation of hemodialysis machines and deliver prescribed dialysis therapy under licensed nurse supervision. Welcome patients, monitor vital signs, assess and assist with vascular access cannulation, administer heparin as allowed, and document treatment parameters including QB/QD, UF goals, and treatment sheets. Provide patient education on adequacy measures (OLC, AMP, UKM) as appropriate, participate in CQI activities, ensure safety and infection control, and support transition of care. Maintain environment, prepare labs, and assist with training of direct patient care staff under RN supervision; travel between facilities as needed. Requires high school level education, state/national certification/licensure per CMS requirements, CPR certification, and prior patient care experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- CMS-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline
- All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any) required
- CPR certification
- Demonstrated commitment to organization culture, values, and customer service standards
- Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or related facility preferred
- Successful completion of the organization dialysis training program
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to travel between assigned facilities and various locations within the community
- Ishihara Color Blindness test required as a condition of employment (passing not precluded)
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally and 30 lbs frequently; two-person assist available for heavier items
