Patient Care Technician - PCT CCHT - Dialysis

Job Summary
Welcome assigned patients, perform vascular access cannulation, and administer heparin as delegated. Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders, monitor patient response, and evaluate vascular access for patency. Obtain pre- and post-treatment vital signs, weights, and blood pressures; document all parameters on the Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet. Calculate and enter individual dialysis machine programming for ultrafiltration goals and treatment time. Monitor patients performing self-care under supervision and assist in training direct patient care staff. Collect and prepare lab specimens, ensure infection control compliance, and maintain a clean, safe working environment. Follow all organization policies and complete Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline
- All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any) required
- Demonstrated commitment to organization culture, values, and customer service standards
- Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility preferred
- Successful completion of the organization dialysis training program
- Successful completion of CPR certification
- Must be able to lift and to lower solutions on a frequent basis of up to 30 lbs., and on an occasional lift basis up to 40 lbs., as high as 5 feet
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to exert up to 15 pounds of force
- Must be able to push and/or pull equipment
- Must be able to perform frequent, prolonged periods of standing
- Must pass the Ishihara's Color Blindness test
