Patient Care Technician - PCT CCHT - Dialysis

Job Summary
Welcome assigned patients, evaluate vascular access for patency, and perform cannulation and heparin administration as delegated. Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders, monitor patient response, and obtain pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weights. Calculate and enter individual dialysis machine programming for ultrafiltration goals and treatment time. Document all treatment parameters, vital signs, and interventions on the Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet, reporting significant changes directly to the registered nurse. Assist in patient education regarding adequacy measures and disease processes, while maintaining a safe, clean environment through machine disinfection and infection control protocols. Float to all Indiana Clinics for 36-40 hours weekly on rotating 12-hour shifts between Monday and Saturday from 4am to 9pm.
Required Qualifications
- Dialysis Experience
- CHT
- CCHT
- 36 - 40 hours a week
- 12 hour shifts, rotating
- Available between Monday - Sat, 4am - 9pm
- Must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved state and/or national certification requirements
- All appropriate state licensure, education, and training
- CPR certification
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Must be willing to Float to all Indiana Clinics
- Must be able to lift and to lower solutions on a frequent basis of up to 30 lbs.
- Must be able to lift and to lower solutions on an occasional basis up to 40 lbs.
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to push and/or pull equipment, exerting up to 15 pounds of force
- Must be able to perform a two-person assist program
- Must be able to use material assist devices
- Must be able to travel between assigned facilities and various locations within the community
- Must be able to travel to regional, Business Unit and Corporate meetings
- Must pass the Ishihara's Color Blindness test
Desired Qualifications
- Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility
