Patient Care Technician - PCT CCHT - Dialysis

Job Summary
Welcome assigned patients, perform vascular access cannulation, and administer heparin as delegated. Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders, including blood flow and dialysate flow settings, while monitoring patient response and evaluating intradialytic problems. Obtain pre- and post-treatment vital signs, weight, and blood pressure; perform hemostasis, apply dressings, and document all treatment parameters on the Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet. Assist in patient education regarding adequacy measures, disease processes, and home dialysis options. Ensure infection control compliance, maintain a clean environment, and collect laboratory specimens. Support the organization's Quality Enhancement Program by participating in continuous quality improvement activities and process improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline
- All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any) required
- Demonstrated commitment to organization culture, values, and customer service standards
- Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility preferred
- Successful completion of the organization dialysis training program
- Successful completion of CPR certification
- Must be able to lift and to lower solutions on a frequent basis of up to 30 lbs., and on an occasional lift basis up to 40 lbs., as high as 5 feet
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to exert up to 15 pounds of force
- Must be able to push and/or pull equipment
- Must be able to perform frequent, prolonged periods of standing
- Must be able to travel between assigned facilities and various locations within the community
- Must be able to travel to regional, Business Unit and Corporate meetings
- Must pass the Ishihara's Color Blindness test
