Job Summary
Provide considerate, respectful care focused on individual patient needs while performing bedside glucose monitoring, wound care, ostomy care, and basic hygienic services like bathing and feeding. Accurately collect and label specimens, obtain vital signs, measure intake and output, and perform electrocardiograms, incentive spirometry, and pulse oximetry under RN direction. Retrieve blood from the Blood Bank, maintain feeding tubes, and ensure patient mobility. Document all patient data, TPR, I&O, and specimen collection; notify the nurse immediately for pain, discomfort, or condition changes. Check code carts each shift, apply restraints per policy, and perform post-mortem care. Answer call lights promptly, provide diversional activities, and support operations by floating between units as needed for 1:1 observation.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year nursing assistant healthcare experience
- Successful completion of an approved CNA or PCT training course
- Currently enrolled in a degreed nursing program AND completed an introductory nursing course such as Nursing 101 or equivalent
- Completed a semester of a school sponsored clinical rotation in an acute setting
- CPR Certification
