Patient Care Technician - Observation role responsible for supporting nursing staff in patient care and unit operations within a hospital setting. Responsibilities include hourly patient rounding, clerical duties (chart order maintenance, answering phones, entering physician orders in Meditech), coordinating patient flow with the charge nurse, assisting with patient care and non-patient care tasks (unit cleanliness, supplies), patient/family teaching as appropriate, maintaining supplies and equipment, entering daily outpatient and observation charges, and adhering to safety and infection control standards. Emphasizes interpersonal communication to foster collaboration with the healthcare team, supports a positive patient experience, and maintains adherence to hospital policies. Requires strong reading, writing, and math skills and the ability to perform proper lifting techniques. Education and experience considerations include High School Diploma or GED and Basic Life Support with ongoing compliance to related programs (RQI).
