Job Summary
Under direct supervision of a licensed clinician, provides patient care and supports a health-care team in a hospital/long-term care setting. Performs tasks including checking vital signs, phlebotomy, EKG, specimen collection and processing, basic laboratory screening, simple first aid, equipment preparation and transport, patient preparation for examinations, chart maintenance, and patient/family education on health-care services. Maintains unit inventory, assists in orientation of new staff, and coordinates patient flow and scheduling across departments as needed; collaborates with the medical team to ensure accurate, safe patient care.
Required Qualifications
- 1-2 years of patient care experience
- Phlebotomy
- EKG
- Vital signs
- Blood glucose/BG monitoring
- Venipuncture
- AHA BLS certification required
- High school diploma required
- Certification as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) or CNA/Phlebotomy/EKG credentials preferred
- Nurse's Aide training completion or equivalent
