Job Summary
Assist the professional nurse in patient care tasks, including phlebotomy, fingersticks, and electrocardiograms. Provide support for admission, transfer, and discharge procedures while maintaining unit cleanliness and ensuring equipment availability. Monitor patient behavior, answer call lights promptly, and report observations to the registered nurse. Collect data for quality improvement programs and participate in unit meetings. Complete annual mandatory education and orientation for other technicians.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- 6 months hospital experience
- PCT certification through National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
- BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification (Issued by the American Heart Association-AHA)
- Graduate of a PCT program
- CNA graduate plus course completion in EKG & Phlebotomy and PCT certification eligible
- Working knowledge of English
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
