Job Summary
Assist the professional nurse in patient care tasks, including phlebotomy, fingersticks, and electrocardiograms. Provide direct assistance with personal care, activity, and safety observations for patients on continuous observation or in restraints. Support admission, transfer, and discharge procedures while maintaining unit cleanliness and ensuring supplies are present. Collect data for the Quality and Performance Improvement Program and review corrective action plans regarding patient satisfaction. Respond promptly to call lights and report observations to the registered nurse. Complete annual mandatory education and participate in orientation processes for other technicians.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- 6 months hospital experience
- BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification (Issued by the American Heart Association-AHA)
- PCT Certification through National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
- Working knowledge of English
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Patient Care Technician certification
Desired Qualifications
- CNA graduate
- Course completion in EKG & Phlebotomy
- Other language
