Job Summary

Conduct direct and indirect patient care activities under supervision in the Med/Surg Oncology Transplant unit, addressing physiological, emotional, and social needs. Communicate with the interprofessional team, patients, and families while maintaining a safe care environment. Perform patient rounds, respond promptly to call lights, and assist with supplies and equipment. Facilitate telehealth encounters by collaborating with clinical departments and utilizing peripheral devices and video conferencing technology. Transport patients and walk 8-10 miles per shift, lifting up to 50 lbs. This per diem role supports Jefferson Health's patient-centered mission at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • BLS - Basic Life Support
  • AHA - American Heart Association
  • LVHN colleagues must successfully complete LVHN's inexperienced technical partner course
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of patient care needs
  • Knowledge of their role in interprofessional team
  • Ability to complete delegated tasks within scope of role
  • Knowledge of personal care and hygiene necessary for quality of life
  • Knowledge of the risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment
  • Ability to take steps to reduce these risks
  • Ability to convey respect and collaborate with each patient, family and/or designated care partner in care
  • Knowledge of people with diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to convey respect and connect effectively
  • Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques
  • Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs
  • Ability to apply appropriate communication behaviors
  • Uses the language of partnership with patients and families
  • Ability to engage patients in their health and health care
  • Lift and carry 40-50 lbs
  • Push/pull patients on bed
  • Stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force)
  • Lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight
  • Frequent to continuous standing/walking
  • Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift
  • Ability to kneel
  • Ability to bend
  • Ability to squat
  • Ability to perform CPR
