Job Summary
Patient Care Technician provides direct patient care in the Emergency Department under RN supervision, including assisting with activities of daily living, taking vital signs, mobility/ambulation, phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, EKG, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and Foley catheter insertion/removal. Observes patients’ condition and reports changes to nursing staff; supports the organization’s respiratory fit testing program for N95 respirators and may perform blood draws, hearing and vision screenings to support employee health services. This role may involve additional clinical tasks within the PCT scope and supports a busy trauma-focused ED environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certification/Licensure requirements: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, or CNA, or NCMA, or NCPCT, or US Navy Hospital Corps School, or EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic, or current student enrolled in a clinical program with RN/LPN/RT/PT prerequisites completed, or prior PCT/Nursing Assistant experience (within last 3 years)
