Job Summary
Assist in the delivery of patient care by performing specific tasks per scope of service and as directed by the Registered Nurse. Manage admissions, transfers, discharges, and patient transport while obtaining and recording vital signs, weights, and blood glucose tests. Demonstrate competence in advanced skills including oral suctioning, enemas, clean dressings, tube feeding set-up, and post-mortem care. Communicate effectively with the health care team to solve problems, document legibly on standardized forms, and participate in walking rounds during shift changes. Provide personalized care to patients and families, identify special needs, and maintain unit cleanliness by cleaning treatment rooms, kitchens, and nursing stations. Adhere to infection control practices, safety policies, and the REACH Values while assisting in code situations under Code Blue Team direction. Maintain regular attendance and model professional conduct in a high-effort environment involving significant manual skills and exposure to dirt, odors, and noise.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- AHA BLS healthcare provider certification required within 90 days from DOH
- AHA BLS provider certification course required within 90 days from date of hire
- Minimum of three (3) months experience as a PCT or currently in a junior semester of an Associates or Bachelor's nursing program
- General knowledge of high school subject matter including sciences, simple medical procedures / terminology, and office equipment
- BLS certification is required 90 days' from date of hire
- Significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity
- Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force
- Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
