Job Summary
Provide direct patient care and activities of daily living, including vital signs, specimen collection, phlebotomy, and 12-lead EKG testing. Perform clean and dry dressing changes, bladder scanning, and early mobility protocols while documenting all treatments in the electronic medical record. Coordinate unit activities such as patient admissions, discharges, transfers, and supply stocking. Participate in quality initiatives like hourly rounding, falls prevention, and isolation protocols, and precept newly hired PCTs. Report changes in patient conditions to nursing staff and maintain a clean, orderly environment. Works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse with a minimum of one year in an acute care facility or equivalent military experience.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum High School/GED
- Experience as a PCA
- Experience as a PCT
- Experience as a NA
- Experience as an LPN
- Experience as an EMT
- Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM)
- Military experience as a Combat medic (68W)
- Military experience as a Medical Service Technician (4N0X1)
- 1 year in an acute or long-term care facility
- Enrolled in an Associate's in Nursing (halfway through program)
- Enrolled in a Bachelor's in Nursing (Junior year) program
- Basic computer skills
- Proficient in Phlebotomy
- Proficient in straight catherization
- CPR – American Heart Association
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting
- Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Compliance with Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)
- Adherence to applicable federal and state laws, rules, and regulations
- Adherence to company policies and training requirements
