Job Summary
Patient Care Technician I in ICU assists nursing staff under direct supervision of a registered nurse, performing assigned duties for patients and staff, including secretarial functions and NA I skills. Requires a high school diploma or equivalency (or AA Early College), Nurse Aide I certification, some medical terminology knowledge, and at least one year of acute-care experience preferred. Must demonstrate ability to organize confidential clerical duties and patient care, communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and staff, and provide age-appropriate care with understanding of growth and development. Current BLS certification and strong customer service are required.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalency; or completion of third year in the AA Early College Program of a community college and provide transcripts to HR
- Nurses Aide I certificate listed with the North Carolina Department of Facilities Services
- Some understanding of medical terminology
- At least one year of experience in an acute care setting, either as a unit secretary or as a Nurse Aide I preferred
- Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit(s)
- Must maintain current BLS certification
- Deliver outstanding customer service that upholds CarolinaEast's Standards of Excellence
