Job Summary
Provide direct patient care and activities of daily living, including skin surveys, vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, and blood glucose monitoring. Assist the RN with acutely ill patients while maintaining medical asepsis, documenting all treatments in the electronic medical record, and reporting changes in patient conditions. Coordinate unit activities by managing admissions, discharges, and transfers, and participate in quality initiatives such as hourly rounding, falls prevention, and isolation protocols. Perform general unit upkeep, supply stocking, and equipment cleaning. Requires CPR certification, criminal background clearance, and ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED
- Must be able to attend 2 weeks of training
- Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to perform basic mathematics
- Basic computer skills
- CPR – American Heart Association
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to perform basic mathematics
- Basic computer skills
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred Acute care experience with in the last 3 years
- Currently enrolled in ASN or BSN program
- Preference given to those enrolled in Associates or Bachelor's degree Nursing programs and completed at least one clinical rotation
