Job Summary
Assist nursing staff with assigned patient and staff duties under direct supervision, including secretarial functions and Nurse Aide I skills. Organize confidential clerical responsibilities and patient care while maintaining workflow despite interruptions and changing priorities. Relate effectively to patients, families, physicians, and staff using proper communication channels. Demonstrate knowledge of patient growth and development to assess status and provide age-appropriate care per unit policies. Maintain current AHA BLS certification. Requires high school diploma, NA I certificate, and one year of acute care experience as a unit secretary or Nurse Aide I.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalency
- completion of third year in the AA Early College Program of a community college
- Nurses Aide I certificate listed with the North Carolina Department of Facilities Services
- Some understanding of medical terminology
- Able to organize confidential clerical responsibilities and patient care, maintaining workflow despite interruptions and changing priorities
- Able to relate effectively to patients, their families, physicians, staff, and all others using proper channels of communication
- Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit(s)
- The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span
- possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs
- Maintain current AHA BLS certification
- Deliver outstanding customer service that upholds CarolinaEast's Standards of Excellence
Desired Qualifications
- At least one year of experience in an acute care setting, either as a unit secretary or as a Nurse Aide I
