Job Summary
Assist the professional nurse in patient care tasks, including phlebotomy, glucose fingersticks, and electrocardiograms. Provide direct assistance with admission, transfer, and discharge procedures while maintaining unit cleanliness and safety. Answer call lights promptly to address personal care requests and report observations to the assigned registered nurse. Support unit activities, run errands for specimen delivery, and ensure necessary equipment and supplies are present in patient rooms. Maintain patient confidentiality and demonstrate respect for dignity and rights throughout all interactions.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Graduate of a PCT program with at least 6 months hospital experience
- CNA graduate plus course completion in EKG & Phlebotomy and PCT certification eligible plus at least 6 months hospital experience
- PCT Certification through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) with at least 6 months hospital experience
- BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification (Issued by the American Heart Association-AHA)
- Heartsaver CPR/AED certification (Issued by the American Heart Association-AHA)
- Working knowledge of English in verbal, reading and writing abilities
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
