Job Summary
Patient Care Technician supports the care delivery team under the direction of a Registered Nurse to provide delegated direct patient care, including sterile and non-sterile procedures, monitor patients for changes and report to the RN, document care and observations, and assist with activities of daily living. The role emphasizes infection prevention, safety, and patient-centered care; collaborates with interdisciplinary team and mentors newer staff. The position requires completion of approved nursing or medical assisting programs and active Kansas certifications (CMA/MA/CNA/EMT or equivalent) with BLS within 90 days. The role operates in a full-time night-shift ER setting and adheres to hospital policies and remote-work guidelines as applicable to on-site patient care.
Required Qualifications
- Successfully completed first semester in an accredited nursing program
- Required or Successfully completed a medical assistant or patient care technician program
- Required or A Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician may be substituted for the educational requirement
- Active certification to practice in Kansas as either Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician is required as a substitute for education qualifications
- Basic Life Support - BLS Required within 90 days of hire
